在文化界人士及行政院文化建設委員會的倡導推動之下,社會大眾對世界文化遺產(World
Heritage)(註一) 有了一些認識。聯合國教科文組織於二00一年三月提出「無形文化資產」(intangible cultural
heritage)的概念,並暫時定義如下:「人們學習的過程,這包括由他們所塑造與發展的知識、技巧與創意,他們創造的作品,以及使這些東西得以永續存在所需的資源、空間及其他的社會及自然脈絡;這些過程為現存的社會提供了一種與前人的延續感,對於文化認同以及保護人類文化之多樣性與創意,具有重要的意義。」(peoples'
learned processes along with the knowledge, skills and creativity
that inform and are developed by them, the products they create,
and the resources, spaces and other aspects of social and natural
context necessary to their sustainability; these processes provide
living community with a sense of continuity with previous generation
and are important to cultural identity, as well as to the safeguarding
