This exhibition introduces the specific social and cultural meanings of these woodcarvingsˇAand the effort the Paiwan people make to preserve the traditional cultures to their offspring.

-'Millet-harvesting ceremony' as the major theme of this exhibition introduces its contents and cultural meaning among the indigenous peoples in Taiwan. This exhibition displays the close and intermingled relationships among three levels of activities related to millet harvesting: millet cultivation, harvest ceremony and the role of millet in the socio-cultures of each of the indigenous tribes in Taiwan. It is the hope that this exhibition may be able to promote the understanding of the aboriginal cultures.

Formosan Macaque "Formosan Macaque"

-This special exhibition on Formosan macaque is for the year of monkey in the Chinese zodiac. The contents of the exhibition introduce the evolutionary relationship between monkey and human being, the nature environment they live in and the legends related to Formosan macaque in the Atayal Tribe.

-In 2003, the TTCSEC transferred some prehistoric artifacts to the NMP and some of them were collected from Orchid Island. -The first contact with modern music of Shih Chen, Yi-sheng Kao and Seng-bao Lu began their studies in the normal schools during the Japanese governing period. Their musical works express the special characteristics of the tribes and the concerns to their people. Later on, these music works became popular folk songs among the tribes. This exhibition was produced together with the descendants of the musicians. From their points of view, it led the visitors to reminisce fathersˇ¦ musical stories.

-Hand tattoos and teeth chisel were precious body mutilation culture of the indigenous peoples. As the world is changing and the decease of elders, these unique cultures gradually fade away.We interview the elders with body mutilations and write down the process as a record in this exhibition to reveal our respect to these national treasures.

The ties between Austronesian peoplesˇ¦ lives and the oceans and islands are also of interest.

-For this particular exhibition, sixty-three prehistoric relics and sixty-six relics of indigenous people are selected to demonstrate the Austronesian culture of eastern Taiwan from 3500 years ago until now. All the relics of prehistory include pottery, jade, metal and glaze are from 3500 to 300 years ago. Based on the relics of eastern Taiwan indigenous people in this exhibition, it is obviously revealed the evidence of absorbing, transforming and creating on the cultural relics.

Hua Xia Treasures "Hua Xia Treasures - The exhibition of hundred items from the National Palace Museum"

-The National Palace Museum displays its hundred of precious items in the National Museum of Prehistory, in order to cooperate for a great project of grand opening. In this exhibition, it displays hundred of relics into four categories: jade, porcelain, curio, and a Chinese ancient vessel (a huge tripod of bronze with two ears) of the later Shang dynasty.
