< back >

Excavation exhibition on Puyuma Relics is a focus in Puyuma Cultural Park. Since 1995, the museum has borrowed land for road use from Taitung County Government to construct a large trellis to be used as an archaeological site for excavation and exhibition.

The archaeological site is constructed with a steel-made trellis, 30m in length and 25m in width, covering an area of 750m2. The surrounding is built with iron fence to provide a safe environment for both workers and visitors, and to protect the relics from natural or manmade destruction. Since the trellis is located at area of Puyuma Relics concentration, the trellis was not built on a deep foundation, but was affixed to concrete steel bars and canopy made of reinforced bars. The trellis is comprised of three sections, namely excavation section, processing section, and exhibition section.

The excavation at the archaeological site has been carried on since late 1996. The discovery was architectural relics and utensils of late Puyuma culture, which is about 2000-2200 years from now.
